Apply for a UK Ancestry Visa
The Ancestry visa is a frequently chosen path for gaining residency in the UK. It is accessible to individuals with familial links to the UK. With this visa, you have the opportunity to live and work in the UK for a maximum of five years, and you are allowed to leave and re-enter the UK several times. Subsequently, you can apply for indefinite leave to remain, a step that may eventually lead to acquiring full British citizenship.
Requirements To Obtain A UK Ancestry Visa
To obtain an ancestry visa, you need to apply from your country of residence. Our offices can be contacted to ensure the success of your application. Your spouse, partner, and/or dependent children may accompany you. They are permitted to remain for the same duration as you and typically face no employment restrictions.
Attaining Indefinite Leave To Remain
Ancestry visas are typically granted for a five-year period. Upon completion of this term, if you have maintained continuous residence in the UK – defined as not spending over 180 days outside the country in any given 12 months during the five years – you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). However, if your Ancestry visa was issued before April 2006, it's likely valid for four years. In this case, you can request a one-year extension before applying for ILR. Once you've held ILR status for 12 months, you may qualify to become a naturalized British citizen, thereby obtaining UK citizenship.
